Following a devastating fire accident at a Malviya Nagar restaurant-cum-hotel that killed 21 people, including 13 foreign nationals. Delhi Police have arrested the hotel cook and owner over severe safety negligence and lack of ventilation.

New Delhi: Delhi police arrested a hotel cook. The reason was to arrest him was Delhi's Malviya Nagar incident. In the fire accident, 21 people had lost their lives and several injured. 

What Police said?

Police had told that the investigation and several interrogations lead us to the conclusion where the reason behind the fire accident was the negligence of the cook. The police had also detailed other linked people, associated with the accidents.

Who were the lost lives?

Among the 21, 13 foreign nationals and rest of the Indians were died in the fire accident at Delhi's Malviya Nagar Restaurant-cum-Hotel.
Along with that, 20-22 foreign nationals had faced severe injuries in the fire incident.

What happened to owner?

Police also arrested the owner, Lavkesh Bajaj, Sweety Sarkar, and Pushpo Sarkar. A chargesheet was also filed before court against the accused.

What had found in the investigation?

According to sources, there was no ventilation in the building. Windowas and glass panels were completely closed. It is also found that the basement entrance was locked from the inside. Rescue teams were needed roughly 10 minutes to enter in the basement area.

What MEA spokeperson said upon foreign nationals death?

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had given clarifications regarding the death toll of foreign nationals.
